Leony is currently one of the most sought-after newcomers in Germany - more than 230 million streams worldwide and collaborations with Alan Walker, VIZE, Dimitri Vegas, Rompasso and many more speak a clear language.
Leony was born and raised on June 25th, 1997 in a small village in Bavaria by her parents with her two older brothers.
She developed her interest in music at an early age and took piano and guitar lessons. This was followed by the first smaller appearances at auditions at the music school. It quickly became clear to Leony (bourgeois Leonie Burger) that her greatest dream is to be on the biggest stages with her own songs and to pursue her passion for music.
But how do you get there if you live in a village that has fewer than 2000 inhabitants.
Growing up in a time in which technology is developing faster than ever before, she started at the young age of 14, together with two friends from the area, to upload cover versions of her favorite songs to YouTube. The videos quickly got a lot of attention. A little later the three of them were contacted by a talent scout from a German casting show that was to be broadcasted on RTL.
By participating in “Rising Star”, Leony was able to gain first insights into the music industry. The fact that the three finally left the show as winners confirms Leony's singing talent again. Unfortunately there was no great success and it quickly became quiet around the newcomer band.
When she successfully graduated from high school in 2015, she immediately flew to Stockholm to take part in her first songwriting session. She spent the next two years mainly in Sweden and wrote her own songs.
After that the next door opened for the now young adult. She signed her first record deal with Sony Australia, flew downunder and worked on her first two singles "Surrender" and "Boots". Video and photo shoots and promotion appointments were an exciting new experience for the then 19-year-old.
Many more songwriting sessions followed all around the world: from Stockholm to London and Norway to Los Angeles. In the end, her path led her to Berlin, where Leony met Vitali Zestovskih in early 2019 and everything should change as a result.
The two harmonized immediately and had the same musical ideas. A little later she moved to Berlin and released her first solo single after a long time with Kontor Records. Vitali became her new manager, co-writer and producer. As one of the hottest German producers, he knew how to put her voice in the limelight and get everything out of Leony. So it came about that they sat together in the studio every day, writing and producing songs.
It didn't take long for songs to emerge for and with VIZE as well as collabs with internationally successful artists such as Sam Feldt, Imanbek, Tom Gregory, Vinai, Alan Walker, Dimitri Vegas, as well as singles with Germany's No. 1 rapper Capital Bra and pop veteran Dieter Bohlen.
For her collab "Paradise" with VIZE & Joker Bra, she was awarded gold in Germany and platinum in Austria in early 2021.
Leony also worked as a songwriter on the world hit “Never Let Me Down” by VIZE & Tom Gregory. The song received all gold and platinum awards in Germany, Poland, Austria and Switzerland in 2020.
With her solo single "Faded Love", Leony proved that she can do it without big name features. The single held the #1 spot of the German airplay charts for insane 22 weeks.
Leony says:
