TRANSCENDENCE: Death is RebirthDeath does not simply mark an end. It is also the condition for rebirth. Every meaningful transformation asks us to let something die first: an old identity, a fear, a certainty, a version of ourselves that no longer serves us.
TRANSCENDENCE: Death is Rebirth is an immersive experience created by Mélodie Zhao, inviting the audience into a ritual of transformation through music. The evening begins where classical music reaches its greatest intensity: a virtuosic piano recital exploring transcendence through works by Liszt, Bach-Busoni and Beethoven. Here, virtuosity is not an end in itself, but a means of crossing a threshold—from effort to freedom, from control to surrender, from the familiar to the unknown.
As the evening unfolds, the traditional recital slowly dissolves into an immersive electro-acoustic performance before culminating in a DJ set by Mélodie Zhao herself. The same artist who moments before explored the outer limits of virtuosity now leads a collective celebration through rhythm, energy and movement. The language of the music changes, but the intention remains exactly the same: to bring people together in a shared state of presence, joy and liberation.
The evening is built around one fundamental question:What if transcendence had less to do with complexity and everything to do with the quality of our presence? We do not celebrate death. We celebrate the courage to let one form die so that another may be born.
